Car Dents & Your Lease Car

November 22, 2019 By Chris Frew Leave a Comment

Hello and welcome to our blog here at Dent Magnet, the Northern Ireland service that uses innovative techniques to remove your car dents in double quick time at a price that you can afford to pay. Today in our blog we are looking at lease cars and the issue of dents on them.

The Advantages Of Leasing A Car

Car leasing is becoming more and more popular with a great many people, not only for people who have businesses and put it down as a business expense, but to the average person in the street. Leasing a car can be a way of getting to drive a brand new car without having to pay out a large sum of money upfront or be tied into a long term loan deal. You normally lease a car for one or two years and at the end of this term you either send the car back to the lease company or sometimes you can buy the car from the company if you wish to do so.

Dents On Your Lease Car

There can be a problem though if you decide to send the car back to the lease company when it is not in pristine condition. If you have had a car for a year or two of course it is very difficult to keep it in near perfect condition, particularly the body of the car. However careful you are on the road you still often get issues with the odd scratch and scrape here and there, along with maybe a dent that someone has kindly left on your car as they have been reversing out of a car park.

When the car gets checked over by the lease company they will find any flaws in the bodywork and have it repaired and then send the bill to you. These bills can often be astronomical so it is always better to have any dents sorted out before you send it back to the lease company, which is where we come in.

Paintless Dent Repair Service

We can remove any small dents from your lease car using a paintless dent repair method. This form of paintless dent repair leaves the car looking like new once more. We can provide a mobile dent repair service so that you can call us out to your home and we can repair your car there, rather than having to bring the car to us. For more information on our services please give us a call on 0800 083 5270

What To Do With A Hire Car That Has Got Minor Damage

November 22, 2019 By Chris Frew Leave a Comment

Hello and welcome to our blog here at Dent Magnet, the No 1 car dent repair service in Northern Ireland. We hope you are enjoying the summer, today we are looking at what you can do if you have a hire car that has got some minor damage to it and needs to be repaired.

The Benefits Of Hiring A Car

Sometimes a hire car is the perfect solution for you, if either someone is using your main car, or you don`t have your own car at this particular time and you need one to either go to a business meeting, an interview or on holiday for instance. Or you may want to hire a good looking car out to impress someone. You can just hire out a car for a few days or a few weeks without going to too much expense and send it back at the end of the hire period.

But there can be a problem with many hire companies and it is this. They can charge you exorbitant amounts of money for any small dents that they say have been left on the vehicle while it has been out for hire with you. It can be a bit of a scam if the truth be told, they sometimes even charge people a large amount for leaving the petrol tank empty, many times above what it would actually cost to fill up the tank.

Advice When Hiring A Vehicle

Here are a few things you can do to help you when you are hiring out a car:

  • Firstly read the small print on the contract from start to finish and if you don’t understand any of it ask them to explain. Knowing your rights and where you stand before you drive off in your hire car can be half the battle.
  • Secondly go around your car before you take it away and make sure you point out any small bits of damage on the car either inside or outside of the car to one of the hire car employees, and make sure they take a note of it.
  • Thirdly take even more care than you usually do when driving your hire car. And ensure when you park up the car you are not leaving it anywhere that could be classed as vulnerable and where it may get vandalised in any way.
  • Lastly if you do happen to have an accident or someone else damages your car it is by far better to get in touch with us to fix any dents rather than send the car back in such a condition. We provide a low cost solution to repair any car dents on either your own car or a hire car.

That is all for today, if you require our assistance please just give us a call on 0800 083 5270 and we will be glad to help you out.

Investigation Finds Car Rental Companies Take Money For Repairs But Don’t Get Them Fixed

November 22, 2019 By Chris Frew Leave a Comment

An investigation into car rental firm practices revealed findings that to some of us will probably not come as a major surprise but is even so a scandalous situation. The investigation found that these companies are charging customers hundreds of pounds to repair dents that in fact they never get fixed. The companies include Avis Budget, Hertz and Enterprise. Rather than get the cars repaired they take the money from the customers and just accept a lower resale value when they are sold on.

Unacceptable Practices

This practice is not acceptable and it could end up costing the companies involved in this deceit millions of pounds in both compensation and legal fees. The investigation was launched by the Daily Mail and they found that many tourists can face an extra bill off these companies of over £2,000 to supposedly repair any dents that the car has received whilst being rented out.

Outrageous Behaviour

Martyn James who works for complaints website Resolver was outraged by these findings, saying: “It is outrageous… For many, it’s nothing short of fraud and, given many of the repairs demanded from customers are highly questionable, it’s vital this matter is investigated and people are compensated.”

And Steve Nowottny of Money Saving Expert said of the practice: “Car hire customers who’ve been hit with hefty repair bills will be frankly astonished to hear some of these repairs might never actually have been carried out. It’s one thing to pay to put a car back in the state it was when you hired it – quite another to be charged if the car isn’t actually fixed, or isn’t fixed until much later.”

The above quotes come from an article in the Daily Mail and you can read the full article if you go to the following link: Car Rental Firms Not Getting Cars Repaired

Of course if you do need to get a dent or scratch fixed on YOUR car then the only people to call is Dent Magnet. If you are in Northern Ireland and you need to sort out your vehicle then give us a call and we can come to you and fix it for you in double quick time, our phone number is 0800 083 5270

Statistics On Road Accidents For 2016

November 22, 2019 By Chris Frew Leave a Comment

Hello and welcome to our blog here at Dent Magnet, the premier car dent removal service in Northern Ireland. Today we thought we would share with you some 2016 statistics on road accidents in the UK which shows an increase in deaths but a reduction in the overall number of road traffic accidents.

Personal Injury Accidents 2016

In the annual report from the Department of Transport it found that there was an increase of 4% in road deaths in 2016 compared to the previous year with 1,792 fatalities. One positive came in that there was a 3% reduction in casualties of all severities, down to 181,384. Breaking down these figures there were 24,101 seriously injured in road accidents in 2016 and 155,491 slightly injured. It is no surprise to see that traffic levels had increased in 2016 compared to 2015 with a 2.2% increase.

Factors That Lead To Road Casualties

What I think is of particular interest to us all are the factors that the report points out that are responsible for so many road accidents each year, and this is something that we should all take on board:

  • The distances people travel is one factor, the further people are travelling the more the chance they will be involved in a collision.
  • The different mix of transport and vehicles on the road is also a contributing factor.
  • A major factor is of course the behaviour of drivers on the road, sadly there are far too many who show no concern or respect to other road users which can often lead to accidents.
  • The mix of groups of people driving and riding, in particular the number of newly qualified and older drivers.
  • Lastly but not least there are external factors such as the weather, heavy rain, snow or ice can mean dangerous conditions which lead to more accidents.
Removing Car Dents

We hope you take care of yourselves on the road and take every precaution to prevent any accidents, but if you are unfortunate to be involved in one we hope it is not serious and just a prang. Of course if you do get your vehicle dented or scratched we are here to help you remove any car dent quickly and effectively. The Car With Airbags On The Outside To Stop Car Dents

November 22, 2019 By Chris Frew Leave a Comment

Now this is a very interesting concept and one that, if implemented worldwide, could put us out of business! We don`t think this is going to happen any time soon so we are happy to give you the details of a quite surreal car design which has airbags on the outside of it!

Unveiled At The Tokyo Motor Show

Toyoda Gosei unveiled this brand new concept at the Tokyo Motor Show, it is called the Flesby 11, and the outside of the car is covered in undulating airbags to stop the car getting dented or scratched. The airbags move with electrical power, and they can shape-shift so to give the car a whole new shape when required.

Talking about the car Takashi Ishikawa, managing officer of Toyoda Gosei Co, said: ‘We put airbags, which are mainly employed inside the car, on its exterior, such as its hood or fender, to protect the entire body.”

Not Available Until 2030

We think this is a very interesting idea and it certainly caught the eye of people who were at the Tokyo Motor Show, but we don`t think we will be having to dispense with our services just yet as this is just a prototype at the moment and it is not likely to be for sale before 2030 at the very earliest.

This is brilliantly innovative although I am sure there are a lot of practicalities to overcome before this actually comes to the marketplace in a decade or so, but we certainly applaud the cleverness of the design. But of course for the time being we still have to deal with vehicles that do unfortunately get dented and scratched on an infuriatingly regular basis, and the more cars there are on the roads the more this problem is exacerbated.

Which is where Dent Magnet come in of course. If you have only received minor dents on your vehicle we can come out to you and repair them in normally less than an hour. No need to take them to a body repair workshop we can repair them on your driveway (Northern Ireland only by the way). For more information on our dent repair services please give us a call on 0800 083 5270
